I just got back from Hanseschlag in Hamburg and there I discussed the topic of structure without sacrificing smooth movement with a lot of people. As it happens, some time ago, a clubmate asked how I try to work on my flow and structure in fencing Longsword and Messer. Since it’s always better to show than to tell, I figured that quickly recording myself going through such a solo drilling session would be useful. Keep in mind that this is not a full tutorial on how the actions shown in this video can be done, but rather a method for bringing multiple types of fencing actions you already know together to create flow and structure in solo training.
