Diana Ross - Missing You / You Are Not Alone (Tribute to Michael Jackson) Boston, MA - May 15, 2010
In 2010, Diana Ross started her MORE TODAY THAN YESTERDAY tour in continued support of her 2006 album, “I Love You.“ It was an extension of her “I LOVE YOU“ tour - which ended a year earlier. She kicked off her tour in Boston, MA at the beautiful Wang Theatre and towards the end of the show, she announced that her tour was in tribute to her friend, Michael Jackson, who recently and unexpectedly died June 25, 2009. To close her show, she sung her top ten hit, “Missing You,“ which was originally a tribute to Marvin Gaye (and later to Florence Ballard, her Mother and other Motown stars who passed away). It was now part of a medley that would include Michael Jackson’s #1 hit, “You Are Not Alone,“ which she also recorded in 1996 and included on her “Voice Of Love“ studio/compilation album that was released in overseas markets.
“I Love You“ became Diana Ross biggest album in America since “Swept Away“ in 1984. It reached #32 on Billboard’s Album chart, #16 R&B and #31 International.
“More Today Than Yesterday“ took in over four million dollars and was rated #66 of the top 100 North American tours.
I never posted this song because of the grainy look it took on whenever I zoomed onto her face and also for the fact, she kept turning her head back toward the screen to see what images was being shown on the big screen. But now, because of the pandemic, I have time to play around with my captured footage, so I mixed my video with those of classic video images of Diana Ross and Michael Jackson together. I hope you don’t mind me taking the liberty of adding additional footage. I don’t think it takes away from Diana Ross’ performance. At least, I hope not. Enjoy.
