Wildland firefighting has changed over the years- embracing technology like air resources (planes, helicopters) to help fight the fire with water and retardant drops. And, many incident management teams have a meteorologist on scene to help predict fire behavior with pinpoint weather forecasts.
But, one thing that hasn’t changed is that it’s “boots on the ground“ or firefighters, that do most of the work. And, they do that work with tools invented more than a hundred years ago.
