Continued flooding hits Catania on the Italian island of Sicily. A foot of rain, half the annual expected rainfall, fell on October 26th 2021. Streets filled with water as cars were washed away. The heavy rain was caused by a cyclonic storm in the Mediterranean Sea. Citizens have been advised not to leave their homes. Hospital wards were filled with water, and shops had produce destroyed during the flooding. Over 300 firefighters are helping the rescue operations in the area. The bad weather is expected to continue for several days, and warnings remain in place.
