Moon Bear Rescued After 20 Years On Bile Farm

We’re thrilled to announce that yesterday Animals Asia welcomed a new arrival to our Vietnam sanctuary - a beautiful moon bear with fur so black and shiny we had to call her Onyx. Onyx spent, we believe, two decades trapped in a tiny cage on a bile farm. Alone with no enrichment, grass to play on or tasty food to savour, she suffered repeated, painful bile extraction which was sold as traditional medicine. Animals Asia is working with the Vietnam goverment to end bear bile farming in Vietnam and we are rescuing the last few hundred bears who remain in these terrible conditions.
