Depeche Mode - Reason For Fun (1982)

This track was the first without Vince Clarke. Martin Gore wrote this song in the studio for the recording sessions of ’See You’ in early January 1982. (’See You’ had been written by Martin Gore as a teenager at the age of 16 (1978)). The song was recorded in the ’Blackwing Studios’ in south-east London, with Eric Radcliffe. When Eric Radcliffe opened Blackwing, he used to use eight track TEAC for recording artists; this was later replaced by a 16 track machine. Blackwing 32 tracks of recording. This system was used for many early recordings by Yazoo and Depeche Mode. The system was rationalized when two 24 track machines were purchased; one for Blackwing and one for Splendid Studios. Blackwing used on Amek 2500 mixing desk which was modified to work with electronic instruments.
