Kyiv denies Russian claims that Ukraine is responsible for attacks in Belgorod | DW News

For the past two days fighters calling themselves the Free Russia Legion have crossed the border from Ukraine to launch attacks in Russia’s Belgorod region. Moscow calls the fighter saboteurs backed by Kyiv who have disguised themselves as Russian police officers. Today, Moscow advised residents in Belgorod to be on the look out for law enforcement imposters and to shoot without warning. It is impossible to verify Russia’s claim. The Free Russia Legion is a volunteer unit, created last year to enable Russians opposed to the Kremlin’s war to take up arms alongside Ukrainians.
