The most gothic, medieval station of the Moscow metro - “Taganskaya“ of the Circle line. Taganskaya station more than others reminds of the High Middle Ages, Gothic architecture. It is decorated with a ceramic panel, inside which there are bas-reliefs dedicated to heroes from different branches of the military. The main attraction of the station is 48 majolica panels. Apparently, the designers were inspired by the Florentine Renaissance artist Andrea della Robbia, but instead of images of Italian Madonnas, there are images of military pilots, tankers, sailors interspersed with floral motifs. Above the metro is the 17th-century church of St. Nicholas, which was originally threatened with demolition due to the construction of the metro. Fortunately, the church survived the construction of the subway. Самая готическая, средневековая станция Московского метро — “Таганская“ Кольцевой линии. Станция Таганская больше других напоминает о высоком средневековье, готической архитектуре. Она украшена керамическим панно, внутри которого установлены барельефы, посвящённые героям из разных родов войск. Главная достопримечательность станции – 48 панно из майолики. Видимо, дизайнеры были вдохновлены флорентийским художником эпохи Возрождения Андреа делла Роббиа, но вместо изображений итальянских мадонн тут изображения военных летчиков, танкистов, моряков с вкраплениями цветочных мотивов. Над метро находится церковь Св. Николая XVII века, которому изначально грозил снос из-за строительства метро. К счастью, церковь пережила постройку метро.
