It was designed by Australia’s Alan Payne and produced by Columbia Yachts in the USA from 1973-77. Over 400 were built in that time period, and the molds were re-used to build many other boats. The T-23 also inspired a number of copies. The T-23 was built out of fiberglass with an aluminum mast and teak wood trim, over 800 pounds of lead ballast, and featured an outboard for marina operations. It has a full keel, masthead sloop rig, a raked stem, a reverse transom, a transom-hung rudder controlled by a tiller and a fixed shoal draft fin keel.
