Trapped in a Kyrgyzstan avalanche: A harrowing experience

A group of 9 British individuals and 1 American were on a guided tour in the Tian Shan mountains of Kyrgyzstan. After reaching the highest point of their trek, one person separated from the group to take pictures on a hill or cliff edge. While capturing photos, they heard the sound of cracking ice behind them, which signaled the start of an avalanche. The person had been aware of a nearby shelter but hesitated to move towards it due to being on a cliff edge. Eventually, they decided to run towards the avalanche as it was their only escape route. The experience was terrifying, with snow covering them and making it difficult to breathe. The person acknowledged the risk they took and feared for their life.
