The Genetic Link Between Native Americans and Australian Aboriginals
It is well known that there is a genetic link between East Asian, Siberian and Native American populations. Lesser known is the traces of South American indigenous DNA found in Polynesian populations. Even lesser known is the mysterious traces of Australian aboriginal, Melanesian and Andaman Islander (which includes North Sentinel Island) found in varying degrees among the prehistoric remains of Brazil. This discovery in 2018 breathed new life into the many theories put forth by scientists that Australasian (meaning Papuans, Australians, and Andaman Islanders) populations may have migrated into the Americas. An early proponent of this theory was Walter Neves who worked extensively on a 11,400 year old skull and its accompanying human remains that was first found in Brazil, near the city of Belo Horizonte, in 1974.
