AI tools to facilitate academic writing: Recommendations from the HSE Academic writing center

Webinar hosted by the Second Language Writing Interest Section (SLWIS). This webinar is intended for academics who use English as an Additional Language (EAL) while writing for publication or teaching others how to do that. The workshop is an attempt to contribute to the ongoing discussion about the pros and cons of using AI instruments for research and writing. The aim of the webinar is to share the experience of the faculty-focused Academic Writing Center ( ), which embarked on the journey of exposing academics to this rapidly developing area. The presenter, without pretending to be an expert in the field, will give an overview of AI-based tools for research writers with a focus on literature search and summary tools, text generators (other than Chat GPT), and editing and proofreading instruments. The presenter will invite participants to think about the possible pedagogical implications of learning how to use AI tools for their own benefit. Speaker: Svetlana Suchkova The video was first published on the TESOL International Association channel: @tesolinc.
