Three Type Tomato Chutney
Ingredient Quantity
Pahadi Tomato Chutney:
Tomato 3 no
Onion 1 no
Whole Garlic ½ no
Green chilli 3-4 no
Coriander leaves ¼ cup
Salt to taste
Lemon juice ½ no
Red chilli powder ½ tsp
South Indian Tomato Chutney:
Oil 1 tbsp
Tomato roughly cut 4-5 no
Urad dal 1 tsp
Roasted chana dal 1 tbsp
Asafoetida ½ tsp
Dry red chillies 3 no
Garlic cloves 15 no
Salt to taste
For Tadka:
Oil 1 tbsp
Asafoetida ½ tsp
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Urad dal ½ tsp
Roasted chana dal 1 tbsp
Dry red chillies 2 no
Curry leaves 12-15 no
Maharashtrian Tomato Chutney:
Tomato roughly cut 3-4 no
Green chillies 5-6 no
Onion roughly cut 1 no
Fresh coconut grated 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Garlic cloves 12-15 no
Method:
Pahadi Tomato Chutney:
1. On the top of gas range grill, roast tomato, onion, garlic and green chillies till well cooked.
2. Remove all the ingredients in bowl and add water.
3. Remove the skin of tomatoes and green chilli.
4. Peel the garlic and wash all the ingredients well.
5. Put all ingredients in grinder jar and grind coarsely.
6. Meanwhile chopped coriander leaves and keep it aside.
7. Put grinded mixture in a bowl, add salt, lemon juice, red chilli powder and coriander chopped and mix well.
8. Remove in serving bowl and serve as required.
South Indian Tomato Chutney:
1. Heat oil in pan.
2. Cut tomatoes roughly.
3. Add urad dal, roasted chana dal, asafoetida, dry red chillies, garlic cloves and sauté for 1 min.
4. Add tomatoes, salt and mix well. Sauté for 3-4 min.
5. Remove in grinder jar and grind well.
6. Transfer the mixture into a bowl and keep it aside.
7. Heat oil in a pan. Add asafoetida, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, urad dal, roasted chana dal, dry red chillies and curry leaves and mix well.
8. Transfer into a bowl and mix well.
9. Remove in serving bowl and serve as required.
Maharashtrian Tomato Chutney:
1. In a grinder jar, take tomatoes, green chillies, onion, fresh coconut, salt, garlic and grind well.
2. Transfer into serving bowl. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve as required.
