Like a River — Jahnavi Harrison — LIVE at The Shaw Theatre, London

The audience reception to Like a River to the Sea was a beautiful and touching moment during our evening of sacred song and mantra at London’s Shaw Theatre. The song prays for the protection and purity of our inner and outer environments, and the insight to recognise the flow of grace that is ever available when we seek it out with a sincere heart. The refrain ‘Govinda Damodara Madhaveti’ comes from an exquisite prayer called the Govinda Damodara Stotram, written by the blind saint-poet, Bilvamangala Thakur. Though his physical eyes were useless, he was blessed with spiritual vision to see his Lord during his final days in the sacred town of Vrindavan. The chorus alludes to the famous prayer of historic saint, Queen Kunti, who prayed that her attraction be ever drawn to the Lord, as a river forever flows to the sea.
