“Russia saved us…” Jaishankar hails India-Russia ties, downplays ‘overdependence talk’

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at the Eighth Global Technology Summit hailed India-Russia relations and praised ties between New Delhi and Moscow. He hailed India-Russia ties while he downplayed the overdependence in the India-Russia relationship. He said, “We have a relationship with Russia and it is not a relationship that happened in an instant. It is a relationship of close to 60 years. I see the problem defined in a way as though somewhere there’s some handicap that India has by having this relationship. But this relationship has saved us at times. Partly there is a lot of history and the force of that which has been a defining aspect of the India, Russia relationship.
