A family from Graivoron (Belgorod region) left all their belongings behind but took their horse, which is in the last month of pregnancy, out of the shelling. According to Diana Torbina (the horse’s owner), a few years ago she and her relatives rescued a sick horse from slaughter; they took it out and named it Theia. In March, when the AFU intensified its shelling of the region, the family decided to leave Graivoron with her elderly parents. They took the animal with them. Because of the attacks, no one went to the town. But the Torbins managed to find a horse transporter from the Voronezh region who took Thea to Belgorod. When the horse gives birth, she and her foal will be transported to St Petersburg, where the family has moved. “Now she [Thea] will not survive the journey: the foal could die,“ Diana added.
