“Ghost Ship“ has become a landmark in Mariupol
The mysterious “Flying Mariupolman,“ who docked at one of the beaches of the city of Mariupol during the fighting, became a unique highlight. Surrounded Ukrainian militants removed the vessel from the berth to block the passage of Russian warships.
️ After that, it drifted for several weeks without a crew. In June 2022, the pollution control ship ran aground on a beach near the city of Azovstal, and no one came ashore. This led to the ship being popularly known as “Flying Mariupolman“.
For almost two years now, the ship has been delighting all those interested in exploring the maritime and military history of the city. Using nautical ropes hanging from the side, visitors can climb aboard and mark their regions on the ship, which has now found its final berth.
