Vintique Motors is thrilled to present this 1972 Buick Riviera!
Introduced in 1963 as GM’s first entry into the personal luxury car segment, the Riviera was well received with the luxurious name evoking the allure and affluence of the French Riviera. Previous to it becoming its own model in 1963, it was a sub-model on Buick vehicles first appearing in 1949. By 1971 the Riviera was radically redesigned with flowing lines and styling affectionally referred to as the “boat-tail“. This generation also featured the prominent “sweepspear’ design que that was first featured on Buicks in the 1950s. The only engine available was the 455ci V8 rated at 250hp, or 260hp with the Gran Sport option, mated to a 3-speed Hydra-matic automatic transmission.
This 1972 Riviera is finished in the very attractive color combination of Emerald Mist Metallic over a Sandalwood interior complete with bucket seats and a console. Being a personal luxury coupe, it is equipped with power steering, power brakes, and air conditioning. It spent time in New York before being acquired by a subsequent owner in 2014 and relocated to Virginia where it has remained since until coming to us on consignment in February 2022. It has been well maintained with receipts totaling nearly $19,000 since 2014 and is best described in survivor condition with what is believed to be original paint and interior. It comes complete with the original keys, a reproduction owner’s manual, a compact-disc service manual, several service records, a car cover, and a large bin with miscellaneous replacement components.
