Here we have again on command the dutch 909 maestro Dimi Angelis, providing four cuts of alien and stripped down techno cooked with a few elements and a lot of knowledge in his home studio in Amsterdam.
Dimmi’s sound is always precise, scientific but somehow punk and gritty and that’s exactly what transmits the first cut is this Ep, The Exchange of Gases combines bleeps and distortion with the rhythm conduction of a minimal 909 beat.
Slichten goes from outer space to Birmingham with an industrial repetitive sequence running relentlessly over again a basic 909 pattern. Repetition is here the key to success when used properly as a tool by experienced dj’s out there.
Nictitating Membrane returns to scfi feelings again spiced with the right dose of distortion and roughness. The hypnotic bleep penetrates your mind while the dirty sound of the old drum machine sets the pace for your feet. Special mention to the occasional resonant sweep that appears from time to time creating the required tension.
Extraterrestrial reminds us of the sound of a space destructor attacking some invader ships Somewhere in the far reaches of the galaxy.
A powerful demonstration of how real techno should be, stripped down, intelligent and nasty, why not.
